The short answer
The easiest way is to give guests one QR code that opens a camera or an upload page, with nothing to install. The fewer steps it takes, the more guests join in. Put the code on every table, ask your MC or DJ to mention it, and test it at a smaller event first.
Five ways compared
| Effort for guests | What you get | The catch | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared album (iCloud, Google Photos) | Medium: open the link and upload | Original photos, at no cost | Guests upload later, if they remember |
| Group chat | Low: send a photo | Fast and familiar | Photos get compressed and are hard to collect |
| Wedding hashtag | Medium: post publicly | A public feed | Only for guests who post, and only public posts |
| Disposable cameras on tables | Low: pick one up | Real film and real prints | Developing takes time, and cameras can go missing |
| QR code camera app | Low: scan and shoot | Every guest's photos in one album | Guests need a phone and a connection |
Before the wedding
Pick one method and set it up early, so it does not get lost in the final weeks. If you use a QR code, try it at a smaller event first, like your bridal shower. That shows you how your guests use it, and it takes away the worry about the big day.
On the day
People join in when they see the code and know why it is there. Put it on every table, not only at the entrance, and ask your MC or DJ to mention it during the evening. If your venue has poor signal, share the Wi-Fi with your guests.
After the wedding
Decide when everyone gets to see the photos. With a reveal, the album opens for everyone at once, which gives your guests a reason to come back the next morning. Then save the photos you love and keep them somewhere safe.
Questions
What is the easiest way to collect photos from wedding guests?
A QR code that opens a camera or upload page on the guest's phone, with nothing to install. Guests scan once and every photo lands in one album.
How do I get wedding guests to share their photos?
Make it one step, make it visible and remind people. Put the QR code on every table, mention it in the invite, and ask your MC or DJ to announce it.
Do guests need to download an app?
No. On iPhone, the QR code opens an instant App Clip. On every other phone, it opens in the browser. The camera opens straight away, with nothing to download and no sign-up. Only the host uses the app.
Should we still hire a photographer?
Yes, if it is in your budget. Your photographer covers the ceremony, the portraits and the speeches. Your guests capture everything in between.
Can we try it before the wedding?
Yes. You can try Everlens for free at a smaller event, like your bridal shower, and see how your guests use it.
We make Everlens, one of the QR code camera apps in this guide, so please read it with that in mind.
Don’t miss half of it.
Set up your event in about a minute. Your guests do the rest.
